Africa as Cradle of Complex Technologies

Even after the first spread of some Homo sapiens from Africa, our ancestral home continued to be the center of human cultural innovation. Many firsts occur there, like art at 80,000 years ago and the bow and arrow at about 70,000. Mitochondrial DNA indicates major Africa to Eurasia migrations starting about 100,000, Y-chromosome about 60,000. This means there were multiple waves of migration of Homo sapiens out of Africa. One of the hallmarks of the Late Stone Age is the use of the prismatic blade core technique. This technique left africa well after the first waves of Homo sapiens.
